The Control Method
The Control Method is an educational platform about the male pelvic floor. It explains how a group of muscles most men rarely think about supports bladder control, recovery after prostate surgery, and erectile function, and how those muscles can be trained as a physical skill.
The method
The approach is consistent across everything we publish. The pelvic floor is a trainable muscle group, and control comes from coordination, not strength alone. The same foundation, learning to contract, to fully release, and to time both, applies whether the goal is steadier control, recovering bladder function, or firmer erections. What changes between those goals is the emphasis, not the muscles.
Who this is for
The platform is organised around three areas of male pelvic health, and each is written for the person who came looking for that specific answer.
- Stamina: timing, control, and endurance.
- Recovery: bladder control and recovery after prostate surgery.
- Vitality: erectile strength and general pelvic health.
We keep the language plain and respectful in every area. A man reading about recovery after surgery should never meet performance talk, and a man reading about endurance should never feel he has landed in a clinic.
How we approach the content
A few standards hold on every page.
- We explain anatomy and mechanism plainly, because those are settled and genuinely useful to understand.
- We are honest about what varies. Individual results and timelines differ from person to person, so we never present them as fixed or guaranteed.
- We ground what we write in published research and clinical guidance, and we link to authoritative sources where a mechanism or finding is stated.
- We write calmly. No hype, no shame, no pressure.
Educational, not medical advice
The Control Method is educational. It is not a diagnosis, a treatment, or a substitute for professional care. Self-directed training is not the same as supervised clinical rehabilitation with a physiotherapist or biofeedback equipment. If you are recovering from surgery, or you have a medical concern, follow the guidance of your care team first. Our role is to help you understand how these muscles work, not to replace the people treating you.
Who is behind it
The Control Method is published by TDR Labs, a studio that builds calm, privacy-first software. The platform shares that stance. The app needs no account, and your progress stays on your device. The content here is produced and maintained by the editorial team behind The Control Method.
